The alien invaders are back. I hadn’t seen them in quite awhile, so I was surprised to say the least. The little bastards are attacking me, causing me pain and discomfort. I fight back. Slowly, I ingest the pain meds. Then I take the antibiotics. “There, take that!” I say. The UTI will not win!
I've very lethargic and rundown all last week. I even gained weight from swelling. At first, I thought it was the heat, because that usually causes the same symptoms. Then the night before last I got this weird sharp pain in my stomach. The next day, it hurt to go pee. I was running to the bathroom every five or ten minutes to empty my bladder. It hurt so much every time, too. I was able to call for an appointment, but they directed me to the advice nurse. I was much better off with that, because one, I wouldn't have to go in and spend money for the appointment, and two, they could go ahead and give me a scrip for antibiotics. The also told me about some UTI pain meds. I was lucky to find that they sold one in the pharmacy that I get my meds from. It helped a LOT. Only thing is, your urine turns orange. LOL Well, I'm sure you all were thrilled to hear about my pee problems. I'd better quit while I'm ahead. LOL

Ack! UTIs SUCK! I used to get those often. I'm sure the antibiotics will fix it quick - I've heard that cranberry juice helps, but I remember one doc saying to just drink a lot of fluids to flush the bacteria out. Hope you feel better soon.

kaknu-yeah, i tried the cranberry stuff back in the diz-ay, but i don't like it. all the uti's were byproducts of a kidney stone which i had lithotripsy done.

hah! I was going to warn you of the orange urine! I never took the pain meds, but they were prescribed to me the last time I bothered to have a UTI diagnosed. My then-PA warned me so I wouldn't freak out when I peed orange. I was tempted to take one pill just to see it.
Are you sure it's just a UTI? Feeling rundown and blah, a sudden sharp pain and then painful urination, sounds more like a kidney stone is passing. You should reconsider spending the money on an appointment. Or at least google up the symptoms and self-diagnose, follow up if the symptoms are consistent. *concerned for your health* At the same time, as Kaknus said, drinking massive amounts of water will flush out the bacteria and you'll recover faster (and studies confirm that drinking cranberry juice, if you can stand the taste, is good for curing UTIs).
Good luck with it. I sincerely hope you get over it quickly. They suck.

smarm-no, it didn't feel like the kidney stone. back then i was doubling up and could hardly walk every time i had what they deemed a 'uti'. of course, i did have fragments come after the lithotripsy and it was FAR worse than now LOL well, i wish you could have warned me about the orange pee LOL
ake-thx i'm glad i have STRONG antibiotics and they now have pain meds that go straight to the uti source. never had them when i had my first uti. :-/
Strange that your 55ing about UTIs. The hospital found out I had one on my pre-ops, took the meds and I still have one, so my pee is being send back and forth, until they can get shut of it, they won't operate if I don't get shut....
