Twilight, Teens, Tweens, and Anything in Between

My daughter was introduced to the Twilight saga last year by a classmate. We knew that the movie would be coming out this year. Luckily for us, it came out a month earlier than planned due to the new Harry Potter film's date being pushed back.

I went to the theater a little earlier yesterday with youngest in tow and advance tickets in hand. When I got to the theater just a little bit before 4 PM for the 4:55 PM showing of Twilight, the line was already incredibly long. It was filled with lots of teen girls, a few boys who were taking their girlfriends, and one boy who was actually wearing a Twilight tee. It was not strange to see a lot of the girls wearing them, but a boy was different. My own girls and their friends were wearing theirs.

They let us pour into the theater about 4:30 PM. Of course, everyone making a mad dash for 'the good seats'. I just like to sit anywhere there isn't too many people. That was pretty much impossible. I would say that almost every seat was taken with the exception of the one to my right and maybe two or three in the very front row.

Along with the crowded theater came the massive noise levels of teens talking about the movie or whatever else came to mind. Then the "Team Wars" started with some saying 'Team Edward' and the others saying 'Team Jacob'. If I had to choose sides, it would definitely be Edward's. hehe

When the previews started all the girls got excited. They were screaming and shouting. All I wanted to do was tell them 'It's just the previews people!' There was a time where I felt like a super intelligent being because Daniel Craig (James Bond) came up on the screen and all these explosions and things were happening. If there was a fire explosion, a part of it would hit him and he'd be kicked back by it, but still kept walking. That went on the entire preview. All the teens started to laugh. One even went so far as to yell, "LOSER!" to the screen. In the end, it was a DVD Blue Ray ad. This is where I knew that the advertisement was trying to say it's almost as if the action was happening to you if you have Blue Ray. Teens were NOT going to get that.

Finally, after all the previews, the movie began and so did the screaming. It was very difficult to watch the movie without laughing through most of it because of all the screaming and their laughing at some parts of the movie. The minute Edward (Rob Pattinson) came on the screen all the girls started to freak out.

Let me tell you, I freaked out a little inside, too. He was just so charismatic on screen. He oozed the vampire sexuality just perfectly. I don't think I could imagine anyone more perfect for the role. Bella, played by Kristen Stewart, did a fine job. I'm not quite sure if I would have imagined her as Bella. I saw Bella with a little more feminine voice.

The movie stayed true to the book which I appreciated. I don't like when they add 'fillers' to try to make the movie more interesting or if it deviates from the book a bit. The cast was pretty well cast and really brought all the book's characters to life for me.

If you're a Twilight fan and haven't seen the movie yet, you are guaranteed to love it. If you've never read the book, read it. If you don't like Twilight, but you think Robert Pattinson is majorly hot, rush right out and buy a ticket. He's worth it. Would 'I' see it again? Absolutely! Now, I'm just patiently waiting for it to come out on DVD. :-)
