I love anything artistic, and I got into jewelry making maybe about a year ago. I think if I had truly developed my skills instead of half-assing everything I do, I probably could have been a decent sketcher as well. I don't know why I can never fully commit to something other than marriage. LOL Anyways, this Flash Fiction has nothing to do with what I'm going to talk about next. I know it seems like I always make the two coincide, but sometimes I don't. This is one of the times I don't. (you KNOW you want to click on ALL links here especially the 1st two :) )

It's time for A Taste of...Fatherhood Friday Edition. Yesterday as I was chatting it up at the Dad Blogs chat, some of us were talking about Hawaii. Hawaii talk, plus the fact that I was hungry, lead me to wanting L&L Hawaiian BBQ. L&L is one of my favorite places to eat. The first one I ever encountered was here in the town next to us about 10-15 minutes away. L&L originated in Honolulu, Hawaii. You can find out it's history and other L&L info by clicking here.
Decor inside the local L&L.

When my husband and I went to Hawaii a couple of years ago and drove around the island, we located an L&L. This was the first time my husband had tried it. He loved it. I should mention that my husband actually likes almost all food. LOL But I digress.
The Menu :)

Our local L&L is one of my favorite places to eat, because this particular franchise is owned and ran by a Filipino family. Do you know what one being ran by a Filipino family means? It means that I can get my pork adobo fix since 2 out of the 5 members of my family don't enjoy adobo as much as the other 3. Bet you can't guess who the two are? lol
The adobo from L&L. This is one plate that doesn't come with macaroni salad.

L&L usually has a good friendly atmosphere. There's usually Hawaiian music playing. Their menu consists of 'plate lunches'. Here's the plate lunch that my husband likes to get. It's the bbq mixed grill plate.

I like the short ribs plate. I sometimes will get what I call "Filipino Breakfast" but a favorite in Hawaii, too, the Spam & Eggs breakfast plate. As I mentioned before, my favorite thing to get there is the pork adobo. The guy who owns the place actually does some of the cooking there. He is the one who makes this adobo. It is so good. He sometimes makes it spicy with jalapenos. He actually talked with me yesterday about adobo since he knows I always order it. Sad, isn't it? lol He told me that he'd add jalapenos to mine next time since I liked how spicy his sometimes is. On occasion you might see his wife, twin daughters, or son working there as well. They've made it into a very family-oriented
business.
Top of table I sat at one day.

So if you have one located near you, and you haven't tried it, you should. :)
Flash Fiction is brought to you by the G-Man. If you feel like playing along, simply create a story using exactly 55 words, pop over to his place, and let him know you've posted. Hello Ciara, nice to see you again! That was a very thorough restaurant description you gave there! I'm enjoying being back from self-imposed blox exile ... hope you're well.
AW (previously GBS). x
That looks and sounds super yummy...and right before dinner time...sigh
Hi! Trying to play by the rules, I just dropped in from the G-Man's site for your Flash 55, since he's gone fishing and given us all to the soul above our comment. You made me want to make jewelry. :)
Have a great weekend!
Now I'm really, really hungry. I wonder if there are any L&Ls near me? I guess I'll have to click the link, huh? You're a jewelry artist, that's something I didn't know. Do you sell your creations?
So hungry now! Wish I knew about this when I was actually in Hawaii. Now it's just good looking food many many many hours away..
Creativity does brings out the best in a person and is immensely satisfying.
HEY Ciara,
I have to admit, being surrounded by so many filipino people in my life, I can honstely say that the best adobo i ever had was made by my partner's mom. She knows I like it with all the fat trimmed off and in much smaller cube shaped pieces....YUM
I swear this weekend, I'm going to check out your jewelry blog.
We don't have L&L, but that looks yummy.
Great 55 Ciara and I can understand how making something beautiful would give you satisfaction. :)
My 55 is up too.
