Up, Down
In, Out
Wrong, Right
Boy, Girl
Male, Female
There will always be opposites. In each instance, there are different courses, developments, and way to handle things. It’s a shame that young girls feel like they got to be something other than what they are. It’s a shame that boys encourage it.

The older Mini-Me gets, the more drama she experiences. She HATES the drama. I asked her if her sixth grade year was good for her since she seemed to have a rough time of it in fifth grade. She said it was definitely better than the year prior because, in her words, 'too much drama!'
It's amazing to me how these girls act and how the boys encourage it. If you decide not to follow the crowd and just be yourself, you are looked at as different or weird. Worse yet, people decide that you are not 'cool' enough to like.
I don't remember this ever happening when I was younger. Maybe because we weren't in such a hurry to grow up, or that one of my high schools was like a small town, the other had just too many people to be concerned with EVERYONE. At some point, I'm going to do a post on girls and perhaps Guns will do the opposite side.
Flash Fiction was brought to you by the G-Man. If you'd like to play along, simply create a story using exactly 55 words, pop over to his place, and let him know you've posted. While you're at it, don't forget to visit all the other great Fatherhood Fridays at Dad Blogs.

Dragon youngsters aren't the same anymore either. We think the world has speeded up.
Great 55
Ours is posted
Gee, I remember it almost exactly as your current day description...30 year later! Some things change, some remain...but hell, we all grow out of it...or should LOL
I was interested in the boy girl games...I just had a girl as my costume to hide behind
You know of course that the boys are under as much pressure as the girls. There is no freedom in a group.
Loved the 55
I don't remember there being that much drama, at least in those grades. Then again I was, and still am, a nerd, so I didn't have to worry about that stuff.
Ahhhh The long lost Ciara Mist!!
Welcome back to remembering Friday Flash 55..
And a darned good one at that!
Thank You for visiting, I missed you..
Have a Kick-Ass Week-End....G-Daddy
peer pressure is too much these days!
You would think after all these years things would be different...not so...blame it on Adam & Eve. :D
Teenage relationships were so long ago for me, but it seems like kids today have the freedom to be much more vocal about what's going on.
We stuffed everything, if I remember right. Or perhaps your adolescent just has a very accepting mother to hear her; if that's so, both of you are so lucky. Very philosophical 55.
Ah drama. Seems like everyone hates it, yet try try as we might, it just follows us around. I agree with Lulda, maybe we should blame it on Adam & Eve
Welcome back honey!
That's a great 55!
I think the problem is partly due to the media and the fact that kids are encouraged to grow up too quickly, especially girls.
We like to THINK we grow out of it, but there's a great Bowling For Soup song that says High School Never Ends. Some people thrive on drama. Sounds like Mini-you isn't like that. She'll be fine!
There was drama back in my day, too. There was always the popular kids and the not-so-popular kids (guess which one I was) and all their dramas. It continues to this day. I know, I have two girls and experienced it all over again through them. That was grade school. Both girls decided to opt out of the drama in high school, except on stage. Me, I grew out of it awhile ago. Too old to put up the drama with adults. Though some of them still thrive on it. Your mini-me sounds like she'll handle all the drama just fine.
In middle school we moved from southern Florida to Iowa. Yeah, talk about a big transition! Not looking forward to my youngin's getting to be that age!

Trying not to have word verification anymore. We'll see how it goes. So leave it.....
