Dona Nobis Pacem 2010

Today I'm celebrating my birthday by encouraging peace. Every year, bloggers from all over the world come together to promote peace. This effort was started by Mimi and her story of her Papa's marbles.

My kids are lucky to have the family that they do. It's comprised of all different races, religions, and sexual orientations. My kids don't see those things as barriers. They just know that they are family, and they love them. Someday, we'd like to see the whole world become one big family. We would like to see peace among us, and those barriers come down. We want the world to be a place where we don't judge based on the color of our skin, our beliefs, etc. It's something that I'm sure people have been striving for for years, and who knows if that day will come. But one thing I do know, is that a movement towards peace has to start somewhere. It starts with me, it starts with you, it starts with your neighbors, your children, and the list goes on. I may be just a small part of the peace equation, but when you combine the other bloggers who have come together today, we are a strong force of those who believe peace is possible.

Music is a universal language. It has the power to bring people together. Christofer Drew (Never Shout Never) is a young musician who always tries to promote peace through songs (as well as love and other things). Harmony is one of those songs. I thought I would share it with you all today. As Christofer Drew sings, "When you and I and he and she are we, humanity will sing harmony."
